The week of smiles

By: Aileen Baxter

Each morning help get yourself off to a positive start. When you are in the bathroom, take a moment look in the mirror and give yourself a nice big smile.

You might feel self-conscious but stick with it. It can help to think of something positive or funny. Imagine that as you begin to smile.

Throughout the day take a moment and smile. Perhaps to your neighbour, a colleague, or a stranger. Help give their day a little lift as well. Research shows we feel a little bit better when we smile, and it can increase our positivity.

Smiling not only relaxes the body and slows the heart rate but it also releases endorphins that help combat your stress hormones.
