Technology: friend or foe?

By: Aileen Baxter

Technology can be fantastic, but it can often be a source of distraction taking us away from being present in the moment. Here’s a way to bring mindfulness into your day while you are using technology.  Each time you are about to check your email, use this moment to take a deep, slow breath and think about how you feel.  Change the background image on your phone or computer that will remind you to take a mindful pause before using it.  Set an alarm at a certain time of the day as a reminder to stop, take another deep, slow breath and notice everything around you.  Use these three tools to appreciate the present moment before our attention is taken away by our technology.
