To do lists are helpful but the longer they get the more anxiety they can create. Each morning this week, simplify your day by identifying three goals. The top three tasks you know you can get done by the end of the day. Visualise these tasks before work starts, mentally preparing the best way to complete them. Taking one at a time, put your focus into achieving these goals, taking the time to complete them. Stay focussed on each part or the process until the task is complete. Enjoy the feeling of doing a good job. Notice how the daunting feeling and urge to rush that comes with having a long list of tasks is eradicated as you have reserved your time and energy to focus on the tasks mindfully and methodically. Don’t worry if you feel there are too few tasks you can always move onto others when they are complete. Narrowing down your to do list to a more manageable number has many benefits including increased productivity, stress reduction and job satisfaction.
