Getting ready for sleep

By: Aileen Baxter

Here is a calming exercise to help you clear the mind before sleep.  Sit or lie in a comfortable position. Focus on your breathing, noticing your breath as you breathe in and out.  Become aware of any emotions or sensations you might be feeling.  Now imagine there are three boxes in your mind: thoughts, emotions, and sensations.  As new things come into your mind, sort them into one of the three boxes.  Continue this process for 5-10 minutes until your mind is clear. This exercise will help you clear your mind of past or future worries helping you get to sleep more easily.
